This is a new drum circle at Gasoline Alley in Largo, FL. It's a free event, no fees, or cover charge.
Held the first Thursday of the month. The drumming and dancing starts at 8pm to 11pm.
The next circle is Thursday October 1st, 2009. Some photos & videos below from Sept. 3rd.
If we get a good turn out, this may be a weekly drum circle for us on Thursday nights. Please show up
and support the scene. Perhaps tell a friend, and we will see how it goes. For right now, this is a
monthly thing. Hopefully lots more pictures and videos coming soon. There will be some extra drums
& percussion. With a good turn out, we may get the 1000 sqare foot dance floor in the back room.
This is a lightly facilitated, yet freestyle drum circle. There will be a variety of different
rhythms to play, some slower, some up-tempo. We will all go wherever it goes together, as always.
A mixture of beats from around the world. Challenging ones for professional musicians, and basic
ones easy enough for the beginners. We want everyone to be included, and a part of the fun.
The location has moved since they were in Clearwater, it's now on 66th Street. To map it, or GPS:

It's a pretty awesome looking place for a drum circle, & a good central location. Easy to get to from
Northern Pinellas County, not far from St. Petersburg, or Tampa. Plenty of parking right out front,
a full food menu, drink specials & more. It's a smoke free room, but there's an outdoor area.
If you're coming from the north, take US Hwy. 19 south to where 66th St forks to the right,
and it's right there on the right side across from Mugs & Jugs. (Map below)
Largo needs a drum circle anyway, right?
Here's a flyer you can print out to help us promote the night. (thanks in advance!)
More photos from the September 3rd circle thanks to K-Sue & a few others.
Here's a few minutes of drumming, flute playing, and bellydancing from the first Gasoline Alley drum circle.
In this clip we're playing to the Babatunde Olatunji phrase, "I am the drum, You are the drum, We are the drum."
The video is a little grainy, and you can only see part of the circle, but what the heck, it was a fun night.
